I’m from Houston, and after trying BBQ at many places across Texas, I can honestly say Salt Lick Barbecue is the best I’ve had. What really stood out was the table service. Unlike many BBQ restaurants where you have to stand in line, you can order right from your table, making the experience much more relaxed. The meals come with three sides, and everything we tried was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The service was outstanding. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The ambience is warm, spacious, and perfect for enjoying a meal with family or friends. If you’re looking for authentic Texas BBQ with excellent food, great service, and a wonderful dining experience, I highly recommend Salt Lick Barbecue. I’ll definitely be coming back the next time I’m in the Austin area.

I came here based on a recommendation from my boyfriend's coworker, but unfortunately, I wasn't a fan. The mac and cheese was watery and lacked flavor, and the brisket tasted like straight charcoal. 😩 I was honestly pretty disappointed. The pork ribs weren't bad, and the sausage was definitely my favorite item on the plate. The baked beans and coleslaw were also really good. The beef ribs weren’t bad either. Also, I tried bison meat for the first time and I enjoyed it. The atmosphere was great, though! The server was friendly, attentive, and helpful. I also loved that they had both indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to sit inside because it was hot as hell outside. 😂 Overall, I wouldn't come back. I've had much better barbecue, and this just wasn't it for me.

Absolutely incredible BBQ experience at The Salt Lick! The brisket was perfectly smoked, tender, juicy, and packed with amazing flavor. The beef ribs were massive and fell right off the bone, while the bison ribs were something special — rich, smoky, and unforgettable. The half BBQ chicken was cooked perfectly with crispy skin and juicy meat all the way through. And the creamy mac and cheese was the perfect side dish, rich, cheesy, and comforting. Every bite tasted authentic and made with care. Great atmosphere, fantastic food, and definitely a spot worth coming back to again and again!

Delicious food. Great service. I had a much better experience here compared to the southwest Austin location. The beef ribs were incredible. I didn't care for the sausage. We were in a group of about 20-25 people and our servers were incredibly patient and courteous despite the incredible challenge presented. Thank you!

If you’re a brisket lover, The Salt Lick - Round Rock is a must-visit. Brisket is my favorite, and they absolutely do it right—tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly every single time. What really makes this place stand out is how consistently good everything is. The sides are just as impressive, and the mac and cheese is especially fantastic—it pairs perfectly with the BBQ. The atmosphere has that classic Texas BBQ feel, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal with family or friends. Every visit feels like a true BBQ experience. If you’re anywhere near Round Rock or Austin and want high-quality, authentic BBQ, this place is definitely worth the visit. I’ll absolutely be coming back.
